报告人简介

Dr. Yumeng Xi obtained his B.S. in chemistry from Peking University working in the laboratory of Prof. Zhen Yang and Prof. Jiahua Chen. He received his M.S. from West Virginia University where he worked on gold chemistry with Prof. Xiaodong Michael Shi. Yumeng pursued his graduate study in the group of Prof. John F. Hartwig. At Berkeley, his research focused on the mechanistically driven development of transition-metal catalysts to address challenges in the field of alkene hydrofunctionalization. After earning his Ph.D., he became a postdoctoral associate in the laboratory of Prof. Craig J. Hawker at UC Santa Barbara, working on controlled radical polymerization methodologies and the synthesis of novel bottlebrush materials. In January 2023, Yumeng will embark on his independent career as a Presidential Young Professor in the department of chemistry at the National University of Singapore. The Xi group will bridge synthetic organic chemistry, catalysis, polymer science, organometallics, and computational chemistry to solve challenging problems in synthesis, health, energy, and sustainability.
