报告人简介

Peter Belton is currently Professor emeritus at the University of East Anglia. He he obtained his BSc and PhD in chemistry at the University of London. In 1971, he moved to the University of East Anglia as an ICI Fellow. In 1974, he joined Unilever research at the Port Sunlight laboratories. In 1979, he joined The Institute of Food Research in Norwich where he founded the spectroscopy group developing applications NMR and infrared spectroscopy to food materials. At IFR he had been the Head of Department, Head of Laboratory and Deputy Director. In 2001 he become IFR Professor of Biomaterials Science at the University of East Anglia and Co-director of the Centre for Carbohydrate Chemistry. Since then he has been Head of Chemistry and Associate Dean for Science. Currently his main interests are related the use of cereal proteins, biodegradable plastics and pharmaceutical excipients. He is the author of over two hundred and fifty publications and has co-edited a number of books. He is co-founder of the conference series Applications of Magnetic Resonance in food Science which is in its twenty second year. He is also a past President of The Institute of Food Science and Technology.
