On October 9, 2021, 2021 LZU/Thieme Chemistry Symposium was held in Lecture Hall, Run Run Shaw Science Building, Lanzhou University. It was co-hosted by the State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry (Lanzhou University) and the Thieme Chemistry, and it was broadcast online. There were over 200 attendances and more than 3400 online. Considering the epidemic, the conference service group in advance made plans for epidemic prevention and strictly implemented various measures.

Professor Fan Chun’an, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry presided the opening ceremony and delivered warmly welcome to all the experts and scholars. Mr. Chang Xu, senior Marketing Manager of Thieme in China, briefly introduced the development history of Thieme and played a video delivered by Dr. Kathleen Too, senior Vice President of Thieme Chemistry, who expressed the sincere congratulation on the opening of the Symposium.

Academician Tu Yongqiang, from Lanzhou University and Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor Gong Liuzhu, from University of Science and Technology of China, Professor Duan Xinhua, from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Professor Yan Hailong, from Chongqing University, Professor Guo Qixiang, from Southwest University, Professor Zhao Yuming and Professor Wang Chao, from Shaanxi Normal University, Professor Huo Congde, from Northwest Normal University, Professor Shu Xingzhong and Professor Li Yun, from Lanzhou University, gave wonderful reports on the latest research and introduced the progress of organic synthetic chemistry and other related fields, while they had in-depth discussions with the teachers and students.

By holding of Symposium, it not only provided a platform for scholars in the field of organic synthetic chemistry to display their academic achievements and strengthen their cooperation, but also played a positive role in promoting academic exchanges and the development of organic chemistry in Lanzhou University.
