Given that the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry, Tian Weisheng made a 5-day lecture on "resource Chemistry" at the 56th Session of Wenkui Forum from June 7th to 11th, in the 101 lecture hall of the Second Chemistry Building. The first lecture was presided by Professor Wang Wei, director of State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry. 

Professor Tian weisheng introduce in detail the history development and current situation of organic synthetic chemistry, the concept of resource chemistry, and explained terpenoids, steroids, fluoroalkyl sulfonyl fluoride. During the lecture, Professor Tian presented the endless charm of resource chemistry vividly from the concept of "resource chemistry", the contents, the selection and efficient synthesis of resource compounds, and the rational utilization of steroidal saponins which made the teachers and students gain a lot.

At the end of the lecture, professor Tian Weisheng was awarded to the certification of Wenkui Forum by Professor Fan chun'an. Professor Tian Weisheng sincerely expressed, "pay tribute to the alumni of Lanzhou University rooting in the northwest of China". 

Brief introduction of the speaker

Tian Weisheng, born in Qingyang, Gansu Province, is a researcher of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry attaching to Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 1974, he graduated from the Department of Pharmacy of Lanzhou Medical College (now the college of Pharmacy of Lanzhou University). After graduation, he became engaged in teaching in his old school. In 1981, he graduated from Nanjing Pharmaceutical University (now China Pharmaceutical University) gaining a master of Science degree. He received his PH. D. degree from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry in 1985. From 1986 to 1988, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Minnesota and Montana State University. From 1985 to 2018, he was engaged in scientific research and postgraduate training at Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2008, he was employed as a second-level researcher.

The introduction of "Wenkui forum"

Wenkui Forum was named after Professor Huang Wenkui. Professor Huang Wenkui was one of the pioneers in the development of chemistry in Lanzhou University, and has made outstanding contributions. To inheritance and carry forward the spirit of rigorousness, persistence and dedication into science the older chemist generation had, the College of Chemistry and Chemical engineering and State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry launched the " Wenkui Forum “ for communicating with high level universities in home and aboard and research institutes.
