On June 20, 2021, the online conference of ACS Materials Letters was successfully held in Lanzhou University, jointly organized by American Chemical Society, the State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry, and the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. 

This seminar focused on "Smarter Materials for A Brighter Future", co-hosted by Professor Zhang Haoli of Lanzhou University and Professor Liu Bin of National University of Singapore.   Academician Yan Chunhua, president of Lanzhou University, attended the seminar and delivered the opening speech Professor Wang Wei, Professor Zhang Haoli, Professor Shao Xiangfeng, Professor Tang Yu, Professor Xi Pingxian, and Professor Su Chengyong from Sun Yat-sen University gave wonderful speeches respectively. These topics covered the new research achievements including the design, synthesis and characterization of functional materials, as well as the application of novel materials in chemistry, biology and energy etc. 

All the guests had an in-depth exchange with the teachers and students online, whose atmosphere was very active, and shared their latest progress and research experience. At the same time, it also provided a new platform for academic exchanges home and abroad in the context of the normalized epidemic situation.
